Project Pitchfork, Rabia Sorda and Tenek at DARKWAVE.RO Fest on January 29, 2011, @ Cage Club
DARKWAVE.RO FEST, organized by Viva Music on January 29 at Cage Club (171, N. Titulescu Blvd, formerly Live Metal Club-LMC) awaits you in early 2011 with its third edition. If the first dwelled mainly on the dark scene (DIARY OF DREAMS, DAS ICH, IN STRICT CONFIDENCE), while the second revolved primarily around electronica (DESTROID, SLAVE REPUBLIC, FRANK THE BAPTIST, PAINBASTARD), the third edition brings you the perfect, well balanced combination of music for the aficionados of dark, industrial, aggrotech and electro genres, in a quality show that ushers on the scene reputed names for today’s landscape: PROJECT PITCHFORK, RABIA SORDA and TENEK.
PROJECT PITCHFORK (Germany, dark electro/industrial, 15 albums), the headliner and at the same time the veteran act of the festival, comes to Bucharest in order to promote their new album, “Continuum Ride” (2010), a familiar title that topped Deutsche Alternative Charts for almost one year, and which, as the title suggests, proposes a large-scale musical jaunt, with electro undulations and dark sentiment. Songs from the nearly 20 years of history of the band, from the epoch in which RAMMSTEIN would be the opening act of PROJECT PITCHFORK, as well as from more recent times, when frontman Peter Spilles launched the successful SANTA HATES YOU and IMATEM will add up to their newest in the setlist.
RABIA SORDA (Mexic, aggrotech/electro-industrial, 2 albums), the aggrotech/electro graft that spurts from the same root of HOCICO, brings for the first time in Bucharest the musical genius of Erk Aicrag, the one who redefines and sets the trends of the aggrotech scene, and who opens his creative chakras with RABIA SORDA in a direction that is equally appreciated by industrial and electro fans. The exoticism of Mexican indigenous sources is minutely synchronized with a vigorous stage presence and a strong, visual content. “Noise Diary” (2009), the band’s latest, is a vibrant mixture of apocalyptical vision and return to idyllic times, when you could have placed your bets on human connection and still be a winner.
British act TENEK (England, electro, 2 albums), caliber back the event in favor of pure electronic music with elaborate sonic freight and a voice that hails from the golden era of DEPECHE MODE, ERASURE and PET SHOP BOYS. MESH’s Geoff Pinckney and Peter Steer arrive in Bucharest after acclaimed tours with DE/VISION and AND ONE. Frequently called by music critique as a 2010 revelation, their album “On the Wire” is a sonic jewel, and the album playlist is made up of lessons about power and emotion.
The opening and the interludes will be covered by the alternative musical program prepared by Italian DJ LUCA EW. Listed among the world’s greatest DJ’s on thedjlist.com, Luca Ew is the founder of the forum Electro World and of the Italian Body Music project; so far he was up all the challenges of the scene: club parties, festivals, resident DJ sets, castle parties, prides, in Italy, Austria, Germany, Greece, Slovenia, Switzerland, and on January 29 he is going to be in Romania.
Doors open at 21:00 hours, while the festival kicks off at 22:00 hours.
